Mumbai, Delhi in world's top 5 cheapest 5-star destinations
According to Hotel Price Index survey, a one-night stay at a five-star hotel in Warsaw, Poland cost $130 in the first half of 2014, as against $538 for a five-star stay in Boston. Stay at a five-star in Mumbai and Delhi cost $176 and $179, respectively.
Looking for a five-star vacation on a one-star budget? Warsaw, Poland has emerged the most affordable, five-star destination so far this year.
According to the latest edition of the Hotels.com Hotel Price Index, a one-night stay at a five-star hotel in Warsaw cost $130 in the first half of 2014. That compares to $538 for a five-star stay in Boston -- or the equivalent of four nights in the Polish capital.
At the other end of the spectrum, travelers paid the most for five-star hotels in Tokyo, Rio de Janeiro and Boston.
"We've identified some very popular destinations where you can find five-star hotels at a fraction of the cost of other larger cities," said Hotels.com travel expert Taylor L. Cole in a statement.
"For example, explorers can visit world-renowned sites like the amazing pyramids of Egypt, the Great Wall of China, the shops of the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul, or the famous Leaning Tower of Pisa all while enjoying plush accommodations for an affordable price."
Number crunchers also charted the best four-star value destinations, with Bangkok, Warsaw, Marrakech, Delhi and Budapest taking the top five spots.
