Fans of the HBO fantasy series Game of Thrones can now quench their thirst for blood and suds with a new beer named after the Westeros saying, “all men must die.”
New York-based brewery Ommegang has released its latest Game of Thrones-inspired beer called Valar Morghulis, after inviting fans to vote for the name and style of its next brew.
It’s the fourth beer in collaboration with the American fantasy series. Previous launches include Iron Throne, Take the Black Stout, and Fire and Blood.
Fans also voted for a deep, rich beer to embody the equally macabre name, as the Valar Morghulis is characterized by aromas like caramel, toffee, ripe fruit, burnt sugar and cloves, malt, and bitterness.
Recommended pairings include savory dishes like roasted lamb or beef and strong cheeses like Stilton, Gorgonzola, and smoked cheddar. A bottle of the brew also packs a hefty punch at 8% alcohol.

The brewery is releasing 100 brews of Valar Morghulis, or the equivalent of 660,000 bottles which will be available in select US states, as well as British Columbia, Ontario, Manitoba, Alberta and Saskatchewan.
If you prefer to blunt the blow of violent tribal warfare, sex and drama with a glass of wine, Australian winemakers have also created a line called The Wines of Westeros -- red and white wines associated with the show’s feuding clans.
