The dragon is a symbol of wealth and fortune in Chinese culture, and with 2012 being the Year of the Dragon, the southern Chinese enclave of Macau has a lot to offer for tourists.
Earlier this month, it was announced that gross revenues from the gaming industry in the city, which is regarded as a gambling hub, totalled US$33.6 billion for 2011.
During 2011, Macau welcomed the opening of the sprawling US$2 billion Galaxy casino complex to its list of attractions, taking the number of casinos packed into this tiny destination to 34. And there are plans for plenty more.
The year 2011 saw 28 million people visit the enclave, an all-time record, and at 12.2% rise, year on year.
