India-s-Dancing-Superstar

MJ5 is what everyone seems to be talking about, since the group recently won India’s Dancing Superstar, a dance show judged by choreographers Ashley Lobo, Geeta Kapur and actor Riteish Deshmukh.

Members Shraey Khanna and R Kartik reveal that they formed the group just 15 days before the show. “We had no idea we’d win the show,” says Shraey. MJ5’s speciality was their different moonwalks. But Kartik says, “It required a lot of hardwork and creativity to come up with a new moonwalk every time. The one we did in the air was the most challenging.”

Talking about practice sessions, the members told us about a haunted room in their rehearsal hall, where even the choreographers wouldn’t go. “Once, at night, I got up to take the blanket and opened the room. Automatically, the music started playing and I just ran off,” reveals Shraey.

About the judges, Kartik says: “When we used to nag Geeta Maa, she used to whisper to us: ‘Kamino tum itna pareshan kyun karte ho?’, while Riteish sir, each time, used to say something jo edit karna hi padta tha; hope you get it! And, as for Ashley sir, he’s technical but he used to boost our morale by calling us ‘my delhi boys’.”
