Amar Upadhyay returns to TV with Welcome

Actor Amar Upadhyay, who was last seen in the fifth season of Bigg Boss, is returning to the small screen with the new reality show — Welcome: Baazi Mehmaan Naawazi Ki.

According to sources, the actor will put his culinary skills on test in the show, which is the Indian version of the British show — Come Dine With Me. It will be hosted by actor Ram Kapoor.

The show, which goes on air on January 21, features popular celebrities from TV and tests their hosting, entertainment and culinary skills.

The concept of the show is to have four or five television personalities meet for dinner, with one of them not only cooking a three-course meal, but also trying to connect with his or her visitors. After dinner, the guests will judge the host on food, activity and hosting skills.

Amar, who started his television career with the hit comedy show, Dekh Bhai Dekh in 1993, rose to fame after playing the character of Mihir with the popular show — Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. He was also seen in shows like Des Mein Nikla Hoga Chand, Kasautii Zindagii Kay, Viraasat, Chand Ke Paar Chalo, among others. Later, he quit TV to try his luck in filmdom and worked in films like Dhund - The Fog, Jodi Kya Banayi Wah Wah Ramji, 13B, Dhoondte Reh Jaaoge! and LOC Kargil.
