American Idol spins TV's biggest buck
There are shows and then there are shows but a relatively few become money-spinners. American Idol just happens to be one of them as it rakes in $8.1 million per 30-minute block.
American Idol has topped the list shows that rake in the maximum mullah.
A television show is judged by its TRPs that it garners but not necessarily do these ratings reflect on the cash flow of the show. The cash flow generated however, is crucial to the show also.
According to a survey of TV's most popular programmes by Kantar Media, it was found that the biggest moneymakers are longstanding hits with broad appeal.
The survey printed in the Forbes reports that American Idol rakes in $8.1 million per 30-minute block.
The top five shows that made the cut:
1. American Idol, $8.1 million per 30-minute
2. Two and a Half Men, $3.1 million per half-hour
3. 24, $3 million
4. Grey's Anatomy, $2.8 million
5. V, $2.8 million
