She ruled many hearts with her strong portrayal of Ammaji from the popular TV soap, Na Aana Is Des Laado and now actor Meghna Malik is quite excited about showing her dancing prowess in the upcoming season of celebrity dance reality show, Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa.

Talking about her new journey, the 41-year old, says, “Dancing is not easy for me. It is very challenging and far from who I am. I am very comfortable in my acting zone as I have been acting for 15 years now but I took up Jhalak to challenge myself in the field of dance. I’m looking forward to this new shift and let’s see how I fare in it. I’m ready to put myself out of my comfort zone. I am taking it as a next new chapter after Ammaji .”

Speaking about Ammaji, the character that catapulted her to fame, Meghna says that the character will always be an important part of her life. “There is no denying that Ammaji became my identity and will always be an integral part of my life. Having said that I hope that the audience will love this new avatar of mine as much as they loved Ammaji. I would love to believe that I will be able to break the tag and image of Ammaji.”

Ask her how she rates herself as a dancer and Meghna, who hails from a small town Sonipat (in Haryana) says, “I am a Hindustani dancer. I can dance freely at weddings (laughs). Otherwise I haven’t taken any formal training and will consider myself a non-dancer.”

So, is she scared about the competition that she is likely to face at the show, we ask. “I don’t want to constantly think about the competition and I want to enjoy myself while I am participating on the show. I don’t want to be tortured by thoughts of marks and positions, but instead want to have fun. I am sure it is gonna be lovely. But of course, while having fun, I wouldn’t mind being on the top,” she signs off.
