Actress and HT City columnist Priyanka Chopra is set to pump up the adrenaline as the new host for the reality show Fear Factor - Khatron ke Khiladi. Replacing Akshay Kumar who has been the host of the show for the last two seasons, Priyanka will host the IPL special edition of the show where 13 of the biggest names in national and international cricket will face their worst fears.

Reliable sources from the TV channel, Colors, told HT City that the cricketers who are mostly likely to participate in the show include Virender Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh, Gautam Gambhir, and Aussie cricketers Adam Gilchrist and Brett Lee.

“It’s exciting to be associated with some of the biggest names from the world of cricket. I’ve been a huge fan of Fear Factor, and I’m so looking forward to starting a new innings on television… Super fun,” said Priyanka. Asked how she feels about replacing Akshay, who has been synonymous with the show since its inception, Priyanka said, “I hope to match his energy levels.”

Despite repeated attempts, Akshay Kumar did not respond to queries about being dropped from the show.

Priyanka will be shooting for the new season in the exotic locales of Brazil in June. The show, which is an Indian adaptation of the international show Fear Factor, includes contestants facing fears such as scaling heights, underwater stunts as well as eating bugs and other creepy crawlies.

The news has got fans talking already. “Thirteen hot cricketers and one woman… I finally have a reason to watch the show,” says Shruti Saxena, 24, blogger. “It’s odd how most cricketers are injured and unable to play cricket, but game for this show,” says Abhilekh Srivastava, 22, medical student.
