It’s been a year since Abhishek Bachchan made his small screen debut with National Bingo Night on Colors. News is that work is already in progress, though very discreetly, to bring the actor back on TV in the second season of the show. However, since the channel’s reality show calendar appears packed at the moment, and Abhishek has over five films left to finish, the plan can only materialise next year.
Abhishek says, "I’d have loved to return to the show this year, but it can’t happen since my date diary is packed. We’ve been talking about it though. My second production under AB Corp has just gone on floors. Pa (Amitabh Bachchan) and the entire team are working very hard on it. Since I’m not acting in the film, I have just one less thing to do. But that doesn’t take away my responsibility as a producer. So, if all goes well, next year I should be back."
The show opened last January, with an episode featuring the host and his superstar father. The capsule rated 5.1 points, one of the highest opening figures for a celebrity-driven reality show. However, the ratings plummeted after IPL 3 flagged off in March. "It was an awesome show, regardless of the numbers. I don’t say that because I hosted it. The format was very audience friendly," he says.
Before his show goes on floors, dad Amitabh returns as the host on KBC 5, expectedly closer to his birthday in October. "I want to sit on the hot seat and answer questions. It looks like a lot of fun," says Abhishek. "But there’s rule a that prohibits the host’s family from participating. If we could only find a loop hole there, I can play the game too."
