Just when you thought that the era of the ‘saas bahu’ (mother-in-law and daughter-in-law) dramas had somewhat ended, this show is thrown at you.

Based in lalaland (Jaipur in this case), everything seems hunky dory. There’s a stern saas and four bahus. The former is not content and is on the look out for her fifth bahu.

So far, the show seems watchable because the twists are humourous. But if it gets into the stereotypical saas-bahu zone (signs visible), then it’ll become something you need to stop watching as it will harm your mental well-being.

The profiles of the existing bahus are: three housewives and one police officer. Regardless, they’re all scared of their saas, who wants to see them for the morning pooja at sunrise everyday. She screams at them for waiting for the clock to strike six. And like cows, they agree to follow.

Occasionally, the saas reminds you of a lady don and her bahus, her henchmen. The husbands are working. Some are henpecked, some aren’t. You can guess the storyline from the way the women are dressed and the manner in which their chemistries are portrayed.

The leading lady is cute, can’t say the same about the boy. As actors, they’re good. The only time you may not like them is when they present the jalebi-sweet story of life. The casting more or less works. The costumes and sets, however, will make you wonder which part of India dresses and lives like this. The story may also remind you of the 1970 film Khoobsurat that had Rekha in it. But then, no harm in borrowing ideas right?
