Television actors Sara Khan and Ali Merchant will get married on the reality show, Bigg Boss, tonight. And, to make sure they look their best, host channel Colors has roped in designer Vikram Phadnis to design the wedding outfits.Interestingly, the two have no idea of the grand celebrations that have been planned for their big day. "Sara thinks that some outfits will be sent for her and Ali, but she doesn’t know that she will be styled and dressed by me. I will be go to the house with a team of professional make-up artists, hair stylists and exquisite jewellery from Jaipur," Phadnis says, adding that while he usually requires 3-4 months to design wedding outfits, this time he was more hurried.
"I didn’t even meet the bride and groom. People from the channel gave me her measurements. I have designed a lehenga for her, with ornate colours like mustard, and a lot of embroidery with zardozi and gota. Ali’s sherwani is very structured, with subdued colours and embellished in antique gold." Other housemates will also be provided with outfits to wear at the wedding.
The preparations don’t end here. The entire house has been decked up with flowers and lights. Lead actors from other popular shows, along with the couple’s families, will also be present at the wedding.
However, ex-contestants feel the ‘drama’ is just for TRPs. “It is a farce both on part of Sara and Ali as well as the channel,” says Rahul Bhatt, who was evicted recently.
“Although the show is not scripted, the wedding could be for TRPs,” says Sakshi Pradhan, an ex-contestant.
