Purab Kohli has bid adieu to the Zee TV singing reality show, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Singing Superstar. Anchor-actor Manish Paul, who takes over as the host this weekend, says, “It was amicable. I hosted two episodes when Purab was away, so everyone seems to think that there’s animosity between him and me over the job. It’s not true because he introduced me to the judges, ensured that I become comfortable with the show and then left. He had some other commitments for which he quit this show.”

Are Kohli and he friends? “Of course,” says Paul. “He was a damn good host. He’s promised to help me whenever I’m stuck in the duration of the show. Everyone on the sets was missing him when I joined.”

Ajay Devgn and Rohit Shetty, along with the remaining cast of Golmaal 3, visited the sets of the show at Famous Studios, Mahalaxmi, on the first day that Paul was shooting. Reportedly, Devgn broke a bottle on the anchor’s bum. When asked, he says, “That’s true. A bottle was broken on my bum on my first day at work. It was embarrassing. But I’ve recovered. Honestly, it was all in fun. I thought Ajay would break it on my head like he did on Rohit’s. But, in my case, my butt was attacked.”

Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Singing Superstar is Paul’s third show on the channel as a host. Would he continue with the kiddie season of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa that starts next, followed by Dance India Dance seasons for kids and adults? “It’s too early to say anything,” says Paul. “If everything works out, I might be part of all the shows or just one of them. It depends on the timings. For now, I’d rather focus on my surs and taals (sense of music).”
