It’s official! Your favourite TV show, Friends, will hit the big screen in 2011. Though talks have been on for a long time, it was never certain whether all six main stars would return for the movie. However, in a recent interview, James Michael Tyler, who played Central Perk coffee-shop owner Gunther in the show, confirmed that all six stars have signed on with Warner Bro’s for the movie adaptation of the hit series.

“Unbelievable,” says student Tanya Jawa, adding, “I can’t wait to watch the big-screen Ross, the geek with a history of failed marriages.” While the news has cheered up Friends regulars, the most excited are those who haven’t seen it in a while. “People like me who don’t get to see it anymore can relive the moments in the film. And those who’ve never seen it, can check what the fuss is about,” says Anjali Ghai.

But will the film meet the ‘high’ expectations of its avid followers? Some fans want the skirt-chasing Joey to get married to Rachel, others like Tanya wants to see him “settle down with Phoebe.” “Sex & the City, the film, was as good as the series, so I expect a lot from Friends too,” says Banjeet Boro, a BPO employee.
