Chang is back!
So is India’s Got Talent; Gautam Rhode to co-host its third edition.tv Updated: Apr 12, 2011 16:51 IST
After hosting two consecutive seasons of India’s Got Talent on Colors, hosts DJ Nikhil Chinnapa and Ayushman Khurana have exited the show. Meiyang Chang, Indian Idol Season Two contestant, and winner of the recent Jhalak Dikkhlaa Jaa season, will anchor the show’s third season that is now underway. Actor Gautam Rhode will be his co-host. The duo shot a promo for the show on Friday morning at Film City, Goregaon.
Colors, the channel airing the show for two seasons now, is looking for a male, and most probably a filmmaker judge to replace director-anchor Sajid Khan, who took over from producer-director Shekhar Kapur, last season. India’s Got Talent Season Three is likely to start towards the second half of May this year. The show, apparently, will replace Preity Zinta’s Guinness World Records — Ab India Todega.
It’s said that Chang, a dentist, singer and now a certified celebrity dancer, turned down a bulky offer from Sony Entertainment to anchor its upcoming singing reality show, X-Factor, which is also likely to start in June.
Without commenting on X-Factor, Chang says, “It feels great to be back on TV again. This time I’m a host, not a participant; though I started my showbiz journey as one. Since I’ve been on both sides of the fence, I’m sure I’ll bond with the participants. I can handle the audience and interact well with judges simultaneously. Besides, I have Gautam for help.”
Even though it’s been a year since Chang’s Badmaash Company released, he is not in a hurry to take on movies. “I don’t have a conventional hero’s face. That works to my advantage. I don’t have too many people queuing with random hero roles,” he reasons. “When I get the right character, I’ll sink my teeth into it.”
