Michael JacksonMichael Jackson’s sudden death last year saw a host of performances and activities dedicated to his memory. A year on, Sony PIX will pay homage to him with an exclusive telecast of This Is It, – the documentary that captured Jackson in some of his final days, preparing for a concert that unfortunately never took place.

In a build-up to the final telecast on June 25, the channel will organize and telecast live, a couple of exclusive performances, in his memory. The Michael Jackson Tribute Band was formed by a group of friends last year, and was slated to perform a tribute even when he was alive. After Jackson’s untimely and shocking demise, the band performed a homage gig last year, belting out several of his hit numbers. They will do so again this year, to mark his first death anniversary.

Bassist Gaurav Vaz admits to having started listening to Jackson’s music a little late, but is nonetheless inspired by him and often watches his videos on the internet. His favourite songs include Man in the mirror and Billie Jean.

For Sidd Coutto of Tough On Tobacco, it’s hard to pick only a few of Jackson’s songs as favourites. However, The way you make me feel, Gotta be starting something and Don’t stop till you get enough’definitely figure on that list. Coutto, who grew up in awe of Jackson’s dancing finesse, is excited by the upcoming performance. “It’s quite interesting because I never really thought I’d be doing something like this,” he says.

Although their set list is dominated by original compositions, as a tribute to Jackson, they will play their own interpretations of some of his songs.

For the first time, Sony PIX brings the movie This Is It, and telecast the MJ tribute give live on on 25th June 2010 at 9 pm to mark the first death anniversary of the King Of Pop.............................
