Speaking in public for the first time on the issue of Kiku Sharda’s arrest, Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh on Sunday said his followers got hurt not because of the comedian’s mimicry act but because of its content that was against the dera’s principles.

Addressing a mass gathering at the dera campus on Sunday, Gurmeet Ram Rahim said: “In that act, Kiku was seen offering drinks to others in my get-up. In reality, I have never asked anyone to drink wine. More than five crore people have quit drinking after following what I preach,” he said.

The dera chief said: “In that act, the actor was seen collecting money in a donation box, but in our ashram we never collect any donation. I have always asked people to donate to the needy. The devotees build shelters for the homeless and help poor patients in getting treatment.”

Also, Kiku was dancing with girls in the act, while I have adopted prostitutes as my daughters and got them married, he said.
