Dahej and Dehleez.. we need a third show to complete the trilogy. Think of a title, quick? Definitely not Darwaza! But may be Dhamaka or Dhoom!
What drew you to Dehleez?
TV is usually a woman's domain but this show revolves around both, the wife and her husband. It is about her attempt at going out to work. He's very supportive of her decision.
Is the character any different from the usual male leads we see?
He is slightly immature which gets the family into trouble. But he is very real- he can feel anger and jealousy.. he lets his heart rule him.
You are coming back on TV after five months.
Yeah, Dahej wrapped up in October. But I began shooting for Dehleez in December.
Were you all expecting the curtains to come down on Dahej so abruptly?
Nope, the ratings were good. It's the channel's call though.
You kept a low profile during Dahej?
I did give a few interviews but when you are shooting for a daily soap, you just don't have time.
But now you do!
(Smiles) I realised that 100 per cent input in work needs to be supported with adequate marketing. It's all about selling. Om Shanti Om and Billu are films that I didn't care for much but the way Shah Rukh Khan promoted them was awesome!
Any actor you draw mannerisms from?
Aamir Khan! My director keeps telling me - Get Bhuvnesh back!
Do you get nervous before a shot?
Every time but then I think of my mum and all's well.
Does your mum like the Dehleez promo?
She does.. but she didn't like my look during Dahej. (Smiles) Now she says I look handsome. Shouldn't you be doing a youth-oriented show instead of playing a family man again? Dude.. this married man is also young.
If you could design a TV show, what would it be about?
I can only think of three-hour stories. I could make a film, commercial or art. Comedy bhi chalega but it should be good. You are talking like a film producer now! Chalo done, I'm becoming one!
