Tell me about your sibling.
Delnazz: Bakhtiyaar is very emotional. He is like a coconut — tough from the outside but all heart within.
Bakhtiyaar: She is soft-spoken and diplomatic. .
Who is the better dancer?
Delnazz: Frankly, Baktu (that’s the nickname I gave him when he was two) is better. My Zara Nachke Dikhaa girls will kill me for this.
Who is the nervous wreck?
Delnazz: (Laughs) ME!
Bakhtiyaar: Yup, She is nervous about everything under the sun. She will check if the windows are shut 45 times and confirm a thousand times whether the door has been locked properly.
As a kid, who was the scene-stealer at birthday parties?
Delnazz: Baktu is six years younger than me. We would both dance at parties but he was always the pampered one. Even today, he thinks he can go murder someone and we’ll take care of it. For dad, he is God!
Bakhtiyaar: That’s true, my dad thinks — what’s good about Salman, Aamir or Shah Rukh Khan? Look at my Bakhtiyaar! Why do they write about Shahid Kapoor’s dancing abilities? My son dances far better. Then I ask him, “Pappa, what about Tom Cruise?” (Laughs) And he says, “Haan, him too.”
Did you always know that your sibling would be in the same profession?
Delnazz: Baktu has changed his profession like one changes clothes. He needed that push from all of us. I’m glad he is an actor and a dancer today.
Bakhtiyaar: I knew she would be an actress since she was always in school plays.
Has marriage changed both of you?
Delnazz: I was more like a mother to him. Post marriage, Tanaaz (Currim) mothers him. Since Zeus was born, he has become more responsible.
Bakhtiyaar: She’s the same. Initially, it was difficult for us to meet often. She had moved to the suburbs after her shaadi while I live in town.
What is the best gift you have received from each other?
Delnazz: The bond between us is the best gift. He might not call me every day, unlike my elder brother Paurus, but I know Baktu is always there for me.
Bakhtiyaar: Once, Delnazz bought me a mobile phone. Last year, she picked an entire range of clothes from Benetton.. and several perfumes.
When did you last fight?
Delnazz: Recently, on Zara Nachke Dikhaa.
Bakhtiyaar: I said something on the show that she thought was pretty nasty. I told her to chill.
Any advice you have given in vain?
Delnazz: I’ve told Baktu so many times to change his attitude.
Bakhtiyaar: And I’ve told her to lose weight.
Any special childhood memory?
Delnazz: Him dragging me by my hair out of my room.
Bakhtiyaar: When Zee was launched, Delnaaz sat in front of the TV for so long that dad hit her on the head. Also, I’ll never forget how soundly she sleeps. Once, dad had to jump from the neighbour’s house to get in. The entire Todiwala building knows when she’s asleep. Even an earthquake can’t wake her up.
