With Akshay unavailable for season 5 of Khatron Ke Khiladi (KKK), speculation is rife over who will anchor it. The series launched as Fear Factor India on Sony TV in 2006, before being relaunched on Colors as Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi in 2008.
Akshay Kumar hosted the first two seasons, handing the baton to Priyanka Chopra in season 3. He returned last year, but it was a one-season contract. With TRPs hovering between 1-3 last season, Colors is now looking for a new host. Ajay Devgn was one of the names in the fray since season 3, and this year is a frontrunner to host the show. We learn the schedule could be pushed to January to accommodate him.
“I’ve been approached for KKK,” confirms Ajay. “We’ve spoken about it, but I don’t know what’s happening, they are still to lock the contestants. I’d love to be a part of it.”
The criterion for KKK is a star-host with a super-fit body, an engaging personality and a track record for fearless stunts. The success of Singham (2011) marked Ajay’s return to action films. “Bol Bachchan is a comedy but has at least three big stunts. SOS—Son Of Sardar will pack in a few punches. And after Chennai Express, Rohit and I will doing an action film that could be Singham 2 or something else,” he says.
There’s another action film with Prabhudheva towards the year-end, and the Himmatwala remake too will have as much ‘maar dhad’ as song-and-dance. So, is Ajay the new Khiladi? Watch this space to find out.
