It's time to say goodbye, dear fans of Downton Abbey! The first trailer of the sixth and final season of the period drama is out, giving a glimpse into the conclusion of the series' storyline.
The one-minute-long promo shows the various members of the Crawley household and staff, including Mrs Hughes and Mr Carson, contemplating life outside of
, said The Hollywood Reporter.
During a previous press event in London in mid-August, executive producer Gareth Neame said the decision to end the show with the sixth season got the full support of ITV and PBS; both networks said they liked the integrity of the decision.
The cast and crew of Downton Abbey have been capturing their emotional last days on set as they prepare to say farewell to the series. Earlier in March, it was announced that the sixth season would be the series' last. But there may be hope for a movie in the future. "If we had gone to a season 7 or 8 we would have taken it that much further. There's speculation about whether we'll ever make a Downton movie, we might, but there are no firm plans. But it means there's a lot of rich (remaining)territory," executive producer Julian Fellowes had said.
The upcoming season will premiere in the UK on September 20.
