When producer Ekta Kapoor decided to cast the third lead for a love triangle planned in TV show Bade Achhe Lagte Hain (BALH) after its leap, many names, including that of Ronit Roy, Shabbir Ahluwalia and Eijaz Khan were speculated upon. Eijaz, who has done numerous hit shows with Balaji, gave a look test and was even rumoured to have got the role after being spotted on the sets of BALH, but it was Samir Kochhar who got the part eventually.
The buzz is that Eijaz missed out on the role as he looked too young when paired opposite Sakshi Tanwar, the female lead in the show. There are also rumours that Eijaz’s ex-girlfriend Anita Hassanandani, a close friend of Ekta, prompted the producer to drop him. Ask Eijaz why he did not get the role and he says, “I was being considered for the role, but I don’t know why I wasn’t cast,” without delving into the reason.
He, however, adds, “I have never questioned Ekta’s casting integrity. No one can cast actors more perfectly than she does for TV shows. But I am happy that she considered me for the role.” So is all well with him and the producer? “There was never any problem. I wasn’t doing TV for a while, so I wasn’t in touch with Ekta. But she is just a phone call away and vice versa,” answers Eijaz.
Though Eijaz is willing to do more TV soaps, he isn’t up for reality shows. He explains, “I can’t do reality shows as I don’t understand how to ask for votes. I am a professional dancer and would love to dance, but not for a competition. It would be perfect if I could do a TV show based on dance, like Dil Dosti Dance on Channel V.”
