No one messes around with Ekta Kapoor. The head honcho of Balaji Telefilms wasn’t too pleased with the way her new TV show, Bade Achche Lagte Hain… featuring Ram Kapoor and Sakshi Tanwar, started, and she has apparently replaced director Partho Mitra with her old associate, Ravindra Gautam after a couple of episodes.

Says a crewmember, “The promos had caught on but the show wasn’t able to live up to expectations when it went on air. Not one to dilly-dally, Ekta, who’s worked with Ravindra in Kasauti Zindagi Kii and Pavitra Rishta, roped him in and showed Partho the door.”

Mitra was unavailable for comment and Gautam insisted that when Ekta told him that she wanted him to take over the show, he thought it would be unethical to ask questions related to previous episodes. “I was the first choice for Bade Achche Lagte Hain… but after my serial, Aarakshan, wound up in April, I was to do another show for Imagine and one for Sony and was busy with scripting. But once that was over, I was relatively free and could accept Ekta’s offer,” he explains.

While the promos centered around a budding romance between Ram’s and Sakshi’s characters, their love story is still to get underway. “In last Thursday’s episode, the two came face-to-face for the first time, now they will meet more regularly, and eventually, romance will bloom,” he clarifies.

Did he speak to Mitra before taking over the show? Retorts Gautam, “No, why should I? It was Ekta’s decision. Partho’s gone back to his old show, Pyaar Ki Kashti Mein.”
