Highlight Story

Although Banoo Main Teri Dulhann isn’t nearing its end any time soon, why has Kamya Punjabi’s Sindoora kicked the bucket? The actress who would have reached the US by the time this story is printed, says, “I don’t know if it was being planned for a while or just a last minute thing,” she shrugs.

Holiday rejected
Last month, Punjabi wanted to take three days off to bring in her birthday in Goa. The producers implored her to stay on, so she could take a much bigger break once Sindoora was out.

Will she be back? Punjabi says, “As of now, no. But this is television, you never know which character returns when.” A source from the channel claims that Sindoora will be back in three months time.

Break ke baad
The actress has mixed feelings about her exit. “I’m happy because I have never had such a long break all these years.” She’s also touched by letters she received from fans when the rumours about her exit started spilling over.
“I’m evil and still they’d like me to stay,” she trills.

The focus of the Zee daily will now shift to one of the new entrants. As Punjabi puts it, the soap hasn’t been revolving entirely on the lead couple, Sharad Malhotra and Divyanka Tripathi. “I don’t mean to sound bitchy, but I was watching Dulhann last night. I had more scenes than the lead couple,” she smiles.

She’ll be back
So what next? Punjabi is gloriously clueless. “I want something that lives up to Sindoora,” she says firmly. How about another reality show, considering she was quite popular in Comedy Circus 2? How did she feel about losing to Juhi Parmar and VIP in Comedy Circus 2? The actress giggles, “Oh.. I.. I knew they would win,” she said.
