At a time when actors look for versatility , actor Kavita Kaushal has no qualms about being recognised by her famous onscreen cop avatar, Chandramukhi Chautala, from the television show FIR.
“I don’t mind the tag of Chandramukhi. I am just taking the brand forward. I have no problem with people identifying me as that character. After all, it is not a bad image which I want to get rid of. It makes me feel happy and proud that I have presented a good character in front of my fans,” says Kavita.
The actor, who will soon be seen playing the role of an army doctor in her next show, wants to play powerful characters that the audience can relate to.
“My characters are very real. Chandramukhi was not Miss Goody Two Shoes. My characters are today’s women who are working and doing their own thing and are not apologetic about themselves. Every character I play is a real woman,” she says.
When asked whether she rejects offers which are not based on real women, the actor says, “No! When I get a good role, I work hard to turn it into a strong character which people can relate to. Everything does not come tailor made and I don’t wait for perfect roles to come my way. By the end of the day I am not seeking perfection because reality never is. It is either black or white. There is no space for grey in my career,” she says.
