Show: Kaun Banega Crorepati 4
Time: 9 pm, Monday to Thursday
Station: Sony Entertainment
Cast: Amitabh Bachchan, ghadiyal babu and the junta

When the show first came on air a decade ago, it made Amitabh Bachchan a household name on the telly. This time when it returns, it manages to capture the minds of everyone who missed it in its first and second editions for various reasons. The 30-minute opening sequence was phenomenal. After that, Bachchan takes over and the show rocks.

The questions are tougher this time. The show moves faster because there are time limits for the first two levels. The novelty lies in having the same set of contestants for a whole week, running audio-visuals about the hot-seat dwellers, the new lifelines, the personalised approach towards every contestant and the way Bachchan looks. His costumes have been designed very tastefully.

On the flipside, the show had run for an hour and a half in the first week and is now down to one hour only. Also, those who’ve watched the previous seasons may feel a lack of novelty in terms of the set design.

Rating- ****

What we like
Amitabh Bachchan and the opening sequence in episode 1.

We don’t like
The set design could have been different.

Show: Tera Mujhse Hai Pehle Ka Naata Koi
Time: 10.30 pm, weekdays
Station: Sony Entertainment
Cast: Janvi Chheda and Karan Hukku

The namesake title track has been reworked from an old Sharmila Tagore-Shashi Kapoor song. It sounds eerie, which probably was the purpose of redoing it. Apart from that, the show has its moments but overall fails to capture audience attention for too long.

On the plus side, it has a storyline, different from other daily shows. It deals with Arjun (Hukku) who arrives in Manali with an agenda to marry Tashi (Chheda), and take her away to a Rajasthani palace because he has been asked to get only her to execute a huge plan.

Karan Hukku in the lead appears stiff. Janvi Chheda is strictly okay. The storyline is well, good, but it needs to move faster now. The way the chain of events is executed in the girl’s life is not quite convincing. So, the show could actually get lost in the crowd despite being different.
