Getting knotty with Laxmi

Gujarati theatre and film biggies to make special appearances in a wedding sequence in Zee soap.

Several of Gujarati film and theatre’s top artistes including Hiten Kumar, Apara Mehta, Dilip Joshi, Diksha Vakhani, Ketaki Dave, Sarita Joshi and Raajeev Mehta have been roped in to play themselves in a week-long wedding sequence in Sanskaar Laxmi.

Veebha Anand plays the bride Laxmi in the Zee Tv soap. The move is aimed to grab eyeballs in Gujarat.

Sukesh Motwani, head of programming, fiction shows, Zee TV, admits that the channel would be happy to draw in Gujarati viewers and so decided to sign up these popular stars.

“Hiten Kumar is pretty well known in the small and big cities of Gujarat and his presence will establish a connect with of ‘bhais’ and ‘bens’,” says Motwani.

“We want our viewers to feel that Laxmi’s story is their story which is why we request these artistes to shoot with us and they instantly agreed.”

Other stars llike Ratan Rajput, Vandana Joshi, Binny Sharma to Rubina Dilayak and Sara Khan and Nishant Malkani from Agle Janam Mohe Bitiya Hi Kijo, Dil Se Diya Vachan, Sanjog Se Bani Sangini, Choti Bahu and Ram Milayee Jodi respectively have already shot for their special appearances on the show, that airs at 10.30 pm, weekdays.

“We will also have Archana (Ankita Lokhande), Manav (Sushant Singh Rajput) and Laali (Rajput) at Laxmi’s wedding. They are our iconic faces,” adds Motwani. “They shot with us after finishing their day’s work on their own shows for which we will always be grateful. Thank God, none of them threw any starry tantrums.”
