Glamourous and loving it
Sonali Bendre recently said her upcoming stint on the reality show India’s Got Talent would her away from her three-and-a-half-year-old son, Ranvir. But the story is the other way round, writes Rahul Sabharwal.tv Updated: May 23, 2009 18:23 IST
Sonali Bendre recently said her upcoming stint on the reality show India’s Got Talent would be the first time she’ll be away from her three-and-a-half-year-old son, Ranvir.
But she was accompanied by him on her trip to Delhi earlier this week. She confides, “He wanted to accompany me for the interviews, too… said he’ll help me with them. Fortunately, that’s something I don’t need help with!” That’s evident in the ease with which she answers each question.
You’ve taken a fancy to reality shows…
Not really, but certain ones, yes. I don’t like all of them… but I’ll be discreet and not name the ones I hate.
Do you watch television?
I watch strange shows…CSI, Numbers, House. I hate the likes of Sex and the City and Desperate Housewives. I’d love to be a part of CSI.
You said during Indian Idol that you were the common man’s representative on the show…
I think I’ll always be that…just a little more…(pauses)
(Laughs) No, no. Just a little more sorted out.
But it’s usually said actresses are kept as judges just to add glamour to the show.
If I’m adding glamour to the show, I’m happy doing it. I am glamorous and I love being that. I have a problem when ‘glamorous’ is used to indicate more skin show and fewer clothes.
Do you plan to rejoin Bollywood anytime soon?
I’m not ruling it out. Right now, I just don’t have the time. A while later, and I may probably get back to films. Ten years later, I don’t want to regret not spending enough time with my son.
You're judging a talent show on Colors. If you had to, what’s the one thing you’d perform onstage?
I’ve never been trained as a dancer, but I think it’s time I did. I’d love to learn the Odissi dance form provided I’m not too old for it!
