Anything for Anil Kapoor; he’s a good and dear friend,” says Anupam Kher. The actor, who claims to be a fan of the international hit TV show 24, will soon be seen in a cameo in the Indian adaptation of the series. And he says he did not charge any money for it either.

Anupam says, “I haven’t charged a single paisa, but I used to eat at Anil’s house almost every day. That became the form of payment. I play the role of a RAW agent called Wasim and I will be seen in only two episodes. It is an interesting part, and is integral to the story.”

Having worked in international films, Anupam feels that this show will usher in the trend of great production value on TV. “It’s time that the small screen moves to the next level. And this show will be the first big step towards that. I have done a lot of television before, and I would love to do more. TV doesn’t make my stature small. An actor can be small, not the medium,” he says.

Anupam, who had turned director years ago with Om Jai Jagdish (2002), isn’t think about helming any more films. “I run an acting school and want to participate in it actively as a teacher. I have done 480 films to date, and I want to do roles that are unusual. I don’t want to work for the sake of it.” The actor has signed a few films which will be announced soon.

He also plans to produce movies. “By the end of the year, there will be an announcement as things are being worked out,” he says.
