Though television actor Sushant Singh Rajput was a clear favourite to win dance-based reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 4, on Sony channel, it was singer-actor Meiyang Chang who walked away the coveted title.

Chang and his choreographer Marisha won Rs 50 lakh as prize money, with both winning Rs 25 lakh each. An excited Chang says, “I started as non-dancer on the show and I feel on top of the world after winning. I never thought I would win it.” Chang, 28, a professional dentist-turned singer-actor and now a dancer beat item girl Yana Gupta and actor Sushant Singh Rajput to win the title.

“My journey on Jhalak has been very enriching. I joined the show to learn dance. But I never thought of winning it. But I feel that it’s my dedication and hard work that helped me win it eventually. I am indebted to my choreographer Marischa Fernandes for believing in me. She really pushed the envelope and bullied me into dancing,” he says.

When asked about the judges - Madhuri Dixit, Remo D'souza and Malaika Arora Khan, Chang, whose tryst with limelight began after he participated in reality show Indian Idol, says, “I always looked forward to Remo’s comment as I was closest to him. Madhuri is the most graceful actor and judge I have ever seen and Malaika too was very positive on the show.” “I am taking back loads of confidence, determination and discipline from this show and I now want to learn hip hop dance.” Chang says.
