For any tele-series to be a hit, the marketing strategy needs to be robust, feels actor-turned- politician Raj Babbar, who has conceptualised a TV serial on legendary Sikh ruler Maharaja Ranjit Singh.
“The marketing strategy needs to be strong for any serial to be a hit and to get the audience glued to the serial,” said Babbar. The mega serial Maharaja Ranjit Singh, that goes on air on Doordarshan from April 13, is based on the life and times of the 19th century ruler of Punjab. “I believe there is a scope for historical serials on any platform, be it national broadcaster or private entertainment channels. People do want to watch such serials.”
About the serial, Babbar said, “Maharaja Ranjit Singh united Punjab and established the Khalsa Raj. I am sure the audience will love the show not only because it is a period drama or a historical series, but it is more about our heroes.” The serial, directed by Chitraath Singh and Sikander Bharti, has been produced by Nadira and Kuku Babbar.
