Rakhi Sawant on being selected as the ‘queen cheerleader’ of the ICL squad. Minakshi Saini catches up with the ‘queen cheerleader’...

As the ‘queen cheerleader’ of the ICL squad, Rakhi Sawant — who had once famously said that “Jo dikhta woh bikta hai” — promises to dress in a way that will not make anybody “sharminda”.

From item girl and talk show host to reality TV star and a judge on Zee’s Ek Se Badhkar Ek Chhota Packet Bada Dhamaka, she will now be an ICL cheerleader. “I am thankful to God, Jesus, Shani Dev, Ganpati Bappa, Bhole Naath... they were the only support I had when I embarked on my journey as a small town girl,” she says.

“I am happy that ICL has made me the brand ambassador of the cheerleading group. I am about to create history. I will be the first actress to represent a national game,” she trills. “ I call myself a miracle girl, only one Rakhi Sawant is born in lakhs and crores.” <b1>

She asks the young women of India to emulate her example, stating, “This daughter of India has been successful on her own terms. Never make compromises!”

Total involvement
After 2,000 auditions in 10 cities, she has selected 12 girls for her team. About her dress code at the cricket matches, she says, “We will go with a dress that the Censors allow us to wear. Our costumes will be western, glamorous but not revealing. The parents of the girl shouldn’t get embarrassed on seeing them on TV.”

She plans to start with Vande Mataram, a couple of other patriotic songs and then move to Bollywood numbers.

She is sure her girls will beat western squads and make spectators say, “Just see Rakhi Sawant.. she has defeated the
angrez girls.”
