I don’t need to wear a sari to make people laugh, says Manish Paul
Actor Manish Paul says that his style of comedy is different from others on television.
The small screen has several actors who have taken the cross-dressing route to comedy, be it Ali Asgar, Kiku Sharda or Sunil Grover. Actor Manish Paul says he doesn’t need to do that to make fans laugh.
“I don’t need to put on a fake moustache or wear a sari. The content makes all the difference,” says Paul, who is hosting a dance reality show, Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, on television.
The 34-year-old says he has a different style of comedy and doesn’t like to embarrass people or guests on the show with ‘roast’ comedy.

“The guests on my shows have always given me a free hand when it comes to content and I have never had anyone come up to me to tell me what not to talk about. I don’t take up their link-up rumours and other stories of their fights to make jokes. I don’t exploit that part of their lives. We are here to have fun and not to make fun of other people,” says Paul. “I never make fun of the way one looks. I don’t want to demean them. In fact, I always make fun of myself as well while interacting with them. I have a class to my humour,” he adds.

Paul shares that he was nervous before shooting with Amitabh Bachchan, but had a great time. “I was very nervous. I had heard that he is not easy to joke around with. But he took all my jokes well. In fact, I feel that he is the easiest person to work with,” says the actor.
