Chetan Hansraj on his exit from Nach Baliye 4.. quizzed by Roshmila Bhattacharya...

Will you watch this week’s performance of Nach Baliye 4?
Yeah, I will. After being eliminated, Lavinia and I took off for a week to Goa. But now, besides a two-day cameo in Baa Bahoo aur Baby, there’s nothing to keep me busy.

You almost edged out Kapil Nirmal and Anjali Abrol.
I forgot my steps in the middle but we still got 24 on 30. They beat us by one mark.

Arjun Rampal gave them a nine, probably because they were the better dancers?
That would be wrong. They had three weeks to rehearse since it was the first time they were in the danger zone. We were juggling two acts every week for almost a month.

You objected to the format, accusing your co-dancers of going back on their support after the judges’ walkout, then, cleverly planning to concentrate on the ‘nach for life’.
It was stressful rehearsing 10 hours a day for Lavinia who’s not from this industry. The others did back out.

Weren’t you surprised Reshmi Ghosh and Amit Gupta survived so long despite poor scores?
You can never predict anything on these shows. I’d never buy chips and vote for myself.

Will Lavinia agree to another reality show?
Lavinia: Why not?

What about acting?
Lavinia: That too.
Chetan: Ten hours of rehearsals and you were stressed. Imagine shooting 12 hours a day? But Nach Baliye 4 was a victory for Lavinia.

Did your son watch the show?
Yes. Ethen’s only two years, 11 months. He’ll be an actor.. a 10 times bigger star than me.

Have you seen your cousin Jugal Hansraj’s Roadside Romeo?
Yeah, it was good for a first-of-its-kind Indian animation film.

He didn’t ask you to lend your voice for one of the characters?
He had big stars. Who am I?

You’ve done a course in 3-D animation too. Want to make a similar film?
Right now I want to produce a TV show. I have a few concepts.

You’re shooting for a film too, Yahan ke Hum Sikander?
I’m doing only one film, Mahesh Manjrekar’s City of Gold, which still has to take off.

If Kahani Ghar Ghar kii returned would Sasha come back too?
I’d play Sasha again.. for free. He was modelled on the soap’s director, Gary Binder, who has since passed away. He had a great personality.

Do you regret slapping Puneet Israni on a reality show?
I felt bad but I don’t regret it. I’d do it again under similar provocation. He spoke rudely about us TV stars. I’d warned him.. he wouldn’t listen.

You called him to patch up...
He called me. I told him I don’t hold grudges.

You played the boy Balram in BR Chopra’s Mahabharat. Now you’re Bheem in Kahani Hamaarey Mahabharat ki... which hasn’t lived up to its hype.
I guess the ‘look’ wasn’t accepted. I’m disappointed because we all worked so hard.
