Amar Upadhyay is still puzzled about the inebriated Ashutosh Kaushik’s behaviour on Sunday (October 20) night at the Delhi airport. It was reported that Ashutosh caused a ruckus at the airport harassing passengers, flight crew and security officials. He also singled out Amar Upadhyay for his rant.

Talking about the incident, Amar says, “I never want to see his face again. Who is he to abuse me or anyone else and give gaalis (swear)? I told him, ‘If you can’t handle your drink, then don’t drink. I was tired, the flight was delayed and I simply wanted to go home. So dealing with a drunk man became a nightmare. I came close to losing control many times but I didn’t want to get into a mess."

Stuck at the airport due to a delayed flight, Amar Upadhyay was surprised when reality show contestant Ashutosh Kaushik attacked him for no apparent reason. “I didn’t know who this guy was, and he was verbally abusing me,” says Amar, who was astonished that other commuters at the airport didn’t speak up even when Ashutosh started hassling a lady security official. “He didn’t swear at her, but was bullying her,” he adds.

Finally, a security guard asked Ashutosh to sit down, but he too was rebuffed. What surprises Amar the most is that the officials let him aboard the flight despite the ruckus. “He was the last person to enter the flight and behaved like he owned it, asking people if they were comfortable. Soon the crew realised he was drunk, and I even told the ground staff, that if he boards this flight, people will beat him up, if not, at least I will,” says the actor.

The other passengers soon realised that Ashutosh was drunk and after a long-drawn discussion, he was asked to step out of the plane.

Amar hasn’t made up his mind about filing a police complaint yet. “Such people don’t realise from their mistakes. He has a drinking problem and he should get himself checked,” he says. Ashutosh remained unavailable for a comment.
