Model-actor-producer, Milind Soman, on his show for kids.
How has your experience been as a television producer?
It’s been a great journey so far. We started in 1998 under the name E-Motion Pictures and produced shows like Hu Ba Hu, Margareta and the film Rules: Pyar Ka Superhit Formula. Two years ago, we started our new production company , Face Entertainment and made shows like Just Pooja,Ghost Bana Dost and After Hours.
Who are the other people in your team?
We’re a team of four people. There is Neerja Shah (she's the former editor of the fashion magazine Elle), Parvati Balagopalan (co-produced and directed Rules) and Monie Pinto (a known name in advertising). We work together to produce the best entertainment shows for our viewers.
What genre are you targeting?
We aren’t limiting ourselves to a particular genre or channel. We want to produce a range of shows, from soaps to kids programmes and reality shows. Even themes like saas-bahu dramas are welcome.
How has the experience of Ghost Bana Dost been ?
It’s been encouraging so far. The channel is quite upbeat about the show. I think it’s a powerful and timely concept. The kid’s genre is a huge market waiting to be tapped. The show has striked a chord with the audiences and we hope it will continue to do so in future too.
Have you given up acting?
Not at all. I'm doing Phir Zindagi with Gul Panag, Flag with Ashmit Patel and Brahm.
I would love to act in a TV show again. The only problem is my Hindi. In fact, it was during my show, A Mouthful of Sky that I realised the joy of acting on the small screen. I simply love the medium.
So, what's the next move?
We are thinking about new television shows and are discussing the idea with some channels. We will be announcing a new show very soon.
