She made her sensual presence felt with chartbusters like Tere bin jeena nahi and Bheegi bheegi raaton mein, she made headlines as Mahesh Bhupathi's arm candy and she was last seen as the heartbreaker on reality show Big Boss.
Now model-actor Anupama Verma is reinventing herself with theatre. In town with the play A Perfect Divorce over the weekend, Verma seems most excited about this new milestone. "I've done plays in school but this is a different ball game," she says.
What's her first stage character like? "She's a divorcee who remarries. Her second husband is a colonel and vehemently against divorce so she's forced to lie and tell him she's a widower. But her ex-husband moves in as the couple's next-door neighbour and all hell breaks loose. It's a light, fun, mad play," Verma says.
"And we've done eight shows already." Verma also recently made an entry in Star One's show Pari Hoon Main. "I play a snooty, glamorous woman. She's a spicy character, all dolled up in chiffons and diamonds," she says.
Though her hands are full at the moment, Verma's managing her time efficiently. "I do a travel show on Voyage so I dedicate five days a month there. Theatre's also conveniently timed," she says. There are other things on her platter too.
"I have a production house that's doing well. I've recently done ad campaigns, I'm doing stage performances and I walk the ramp occasionally." Films are also on the agenda.
"I've done an 'item song' for Woodstock Villa, but I would like to call it a special appearance. I'm open to these songs if they're classily done," she says.
But reality shows are out. "I will not get into something like Big Boss again, and none of the other offers have been exciting," the multi-tasker signs off.
