Bollywood’s very own oomph queen Jacqueline Fernandez may have hit jackpot with her decision to judge popular dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa.
Reports suggest that the Dishoom star was made an “offer she couldn’t resist” to play the judge with film-maker Karan Johar and choreographer Ganesh Hegde. According to DNA, Jaqueline was offered “Rs 1 crore per episode” for the popular show which airs for three months.
Did you just say this could be way above her yearly take-home from films?
While you do the math, here’s what Jacqueline told DNA, “The reason I signed on was that I wanted to reach out to more people. I felt I was still lacking in reach. I wanted to be able to connect with that audience in the small towns and interiors — people who didn’t relate to me and my movies. My blockbuster hits have created a very glamorous image of me, which is not the real me. I never had a chance to play myself. With Jhalak..., I have that now. I wanted people to see that side of me.”
While popular perception suggests that only out-of-work actors turn to TV television to rejuvenate their career, new age actors are turning that notion wrong. Earlier Hritik Roshan judged Just Dance while Shahid Kapoor was the judge on Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa last year.
