Actor-dancer Isha Sharvani and choreographer Salman have created a record of sorts on the Colors’ dance reality show Jhalak Dikkhla Jaa 5. The duo has scored full marks, 30 out of 30- not once, but four times in a row; the most recent feat being the upcoming episode in which the two have created a horror act to the song ‘Pyaar tune kya kiya’ from the movie of the same name.

The 26-year-old actor says, “Dancing gives me a high and these scores are encouraging. Salman and I are putting 100 per cent into our performances. We never step on to the stage expecting anything less than a complete performance, which has as few flaws as possible.”

When she first took on the show, Isha’s detractors had stated that she already had an edge over the other contestants as she is a trained dancer. She has been working with her mother’s dance troupe that has been travelling and performing across the world over the years.

“That’s a specific dance form that my body is accustomed to. I’ve found it so taxing to perform certain international dance techniques because the flexibility needed for those is very different from what I have. I wish people acknowledged that despite that, I have stepped out of my comfort zone to participate in this show,” says Isha.

She adds, “Tomorrow if I make it to the top five or three, people won’t consider it a result of my hard work. They’ll brush it off saying, ‘She’s a dancer, so it’s no big deal.’ Trust me, each performance has been a big deal for us, and it will continue to be so for as long as I am on the show.”
