This show doesn’t verge on melodrama. The story revolves around a timid middle class girl, Nivedita, who falls in love with a rich, intelligent, good-looking boy, Siddharth. He’s head-over-heels in love with her, despite her average appearance.

Strangely, she never admits her feelings to him. The reason is a deep dark secret. Javed Akhtar plays the sutradhar or narrator, and pieces the story at the end of every episode with a few romantic lines. Neha Sargam, who plays Nivedita, is convincing. The same can’t be said about the newcomer playing Siddharth. The story is based in Shimla and makes for a fresh location for TV.

What we like is Newcomers are always a welcome change. Direction is under control. The story is rather sweet and feel-good.

We don’t like Some of the cast members ham all the time, taking away from the story. The show moves slowly. The costumes could have been better.
