Known for sowing the seeds of soul-stirring shows on television, from Humlog in the early ’80s to the very bold Shanti in the ’90s, Doordarshan has always been the common man’s best friend.
True to it’s ethos, the channel recently announced the launch of, not one or two, but 10 brand new shows ­panning across a variety of themes, thereby promising to keep viewers entertained for the next few months.
"In keeping with our vision for providing wholesome entertainment to audiences across the length and breadth of the country with a public service responsibility, Doordarshan National has come up with a new look and feel, and 10 new shows in prime time," said Vijayalaxmi Chhabra, ­director general, Doordarshan.
The new shows include, Happy Homes, Khwabon Ke Darmiyan, Khamosh Sa Afsana, Zindagi Ek Bhanwar, Dard Ka Rishta and Jab Jab Bahar Ayee on weekdays, and Janmon Ka Bandhan and Prakriti over the weekend.
Meanwhile Stree Shakti, a talk show, will feature ­exemplary women achievers, while Paltan will depict the challenging life of the ­Army men.
