Eleven years after The Rules of Attraction, the actor will once again team with director Roger Avary and writer Bret Easton Ellis, this time for a TV series, Deadline reveals.
After seeing several of his novels become successful film adaptations, Bret Easton Ellis is beginning to see his TV projects take shape. In addition to developing a Charles Manson biopic in collaboration with Rob Zombie, the author of American Psycho is developing a new series for British TV.
Titled Post Empire, the six-episode series is a black comedy set in the world of finance. The former Dawson's Creek star will play a dishonest, Bernie Madoff-like broker attempting to deal with his investors as his lies and schemes begin to fall through.
After failing to return to fame with the comedies Don't Trust The Bitch in Apartement 23 and Friends With Better Lives, both cancelled early on, Van Der Beek is making another attempt. In addition to Post Empire, the actor has joined the cast of CSI: Cyber, the latest spin-off on the popular CBS crime series, which is due to premiere in the mid-season.
