When actor Eijaz Khan signed on for the dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, little did he know that he would hurt himself badly while rehearsing for the launch episode, leaving him unfit to compete. And now, after carrying his arm in a sling for weeks, Eijaz has finally had the much-needed surgery.

Eijaz got his shoulder operated on June 10. It was dislocated and he had a labral tear (joint tear) because of which the doctors put screws in the bone to fix it. “Yes the surgery on my shoulder was successful and I will be up and about soon. There were micro-tears, so I decided to get it repaired. In fact, I took the call overnight. Now my shoulder will be stronger than before,” says Eijaz, who was operated by the same surgeon who handled Shah Rukh Khan’s case a few weeks ago.

Eijaz will be wearing a sling for a week and in some time will be able to work with the hand and towards strengthening his muscles. His family, especially his father and girlfriend, were with him throughout this. “My dad has been with me in every crisis. I was in good hands as the surgeon took good care of me.”

However, this does not mean that the actor won’t be part of the dance reality show. The channel has been intimated by Eijaz’s manager about the surgery and they will soon decide on the recourse. “We wish him a speedy recovery and once he’s well, we hope to see him soon on Jhalak,” says the channel’s spokesperson.
