Kapil Sharma jokes about fight with Sunil Grover: I don’t speak on flights these days
Kapil Sharma cracked a joke on his fight with co-star Sunil Groven on Saturday night’s episode of The Kapil Sharma Show. Here’s what he said.
With TRPs dropping severely for his show, Kapil Sharma has found a new way to amuse himself and his viewers. The actor and host of The Kapil Sharma Show cracked a joke about his recent fight with co-star Sunil Grover in a segment on Saturday’s episode.
The show’s cast was performing a skit inside a mock aeroplane. The actors were quarrelling among themselves when Kiku Sharda, who played the air-hostess, asked a meek Kapil to intervene.
“Main flight mein nahi bolta aajkal. (I don’t speak on flights these days),” Kapil said. Guests and cricketers Shikhar Dhawan and Suresh Raina laughed heartily to his joke.
Kapil was referring to his PR nightmare of a fight with Sunil in March. The two were on an Air India Melbourne-Delhi-Mumbai flight with the rest of the cast when a fight broke out between the two because Kapil allegedly got angry at his team for eating before him.
“Jab maine khaana shuru nahi kiya toh tum logo ne kaise le liya khaana? (When I haven’t started eating then how can you eat food?)” he shouted, well within the earshot of co-passengers. An eye-witness revealed that Kapil’s co-stars looked so startled that they started returning their half-finished food trays to the crew. At this point, Sunil tried to calm Kapil down, who then started yelling at him.
“Kapil got up, took off his shoe, and hit Sunil,” said the source, adding, “He also pulled Sunil’s collar, and repeatedly slapped him.”
Sunil has not returned to the show even after Kapil apologised to him on Twitter. There are rumours that Sunil has got his own show on the same channel.
The TRPs for The Kapil Sharma Show have taken a nosedive. According to a Broadcast Audience Research Council India (BARC) report, The Kapil Sharma Show no longer makes it to the top five highest TRP rated programs on Indian television. The data is from Saturday May 13 2017 to Friday May 19 2017.
According to a report in Business of Cinema, the show was among the top three shows in its initial days.
