Kapil Sharma leaves rehab a month before time, has ‘stopped drinking completely’ in 12 days
Kapil Sharma has left rehab in just 12 days and a source close to him says he has given up alcohol.
Comedian and television show host Kapil Sharma is reported to have left rehab 28 days before he was supposed to. A source close to him says he is leaving early as he has given up alcohol within 12 days of his stay at the Benguluru ayurvedic centre.
According to a DNA report, Kapil was supposed to stay in the rehab for 40 days but has left for Mumbai already due to work commitments. “He needed to return to Mumbai to complete his film Firangi and start promoting and marketing it for its November release,” a close friend of Kapil said.
The source, however, says his return doesn’t mean he will return to The Kapil Sharma Show immediately. “Kapil is feeling much better. I can sense the changes in him. He had been pushing himself too far during the last few years. His mind and body gave warning signals. He wasn’t taking these warnings seriously. Now, finally God planned this break for him. And it has done him a world of good. Kapil has stopped drinking completely, at least, for now.”
Kapil has said it before that he will soon come back with new episodes for The Kapil Sharma Show and the show hasn’t been cancelled. It is simply on a short break.
According to a report in The Indian Express, the show will resume shooting for new episodes in October. “Kapil is totally fit now. He should be back from Benguluru soon and by next month, The Kapil Sharma Show will be on floors again,” a source told the daily.
Kapil took the break due to health concerns. He had complained of problems with his blood pressure and told DNA in an interview that he was at an ayurvedic ashram to recover.
Several actors like Ajay Devgn, Shah Rukh Khan and their crew had to return from the sets when Kapil failed to turn up for shoot. Sony Entertainment channel, which telecasts the show, had decided to take a break from airing fresh episodes till Kapil recovers completely.
Things have not been good for Kapil since March when he, in a fit of rage, got abusive towards his co-star from the show, Sunil Grover. He was reportedly under the influence of alcohol when he physically assaulted the actor. Sunil has since refused to work with him.
