In a follow-up to the 2011 miniseries The Kennedys, the American actress will reprise her role as the iconic former first lady. The Kennedys: After Camelot is due to air in 2016.
Three years after airing its first miniseries chronicling the famous dynasty's ups and downs, the cable network ReelzChannel is moving forward with the second installment. Katie Holmes will return to the role of Jackie Kennedy, which brought her back to the small screen in 2011.
With The Kennedys: After Camelot, the former Dawson's Creek star will also make her debut behind the camera. Holmes will direct one of the four episodes, leaving the others to Jon Cassar (24), who also helmed The Kennedys.
Based like the first installment on the writings of J. Randy Taraborrelli, After Camelot will explore the Kennedy story from 1968 to today. The four episodes will depict the family's joys and successes, as well as their sorrows and tragedies, all while evoking the American public's fascination with the dynasty.
Due to air in 2016 on ReelzChannel, After Camelot will enter production this spring in Canada.
