Reality TV star, Kim Kardashian West says she was held up at gunpoint inside a luxurious residence in Paris on Sunday night by five armed masked men dressed as police officers. The men stole jewellery worth several million dollars, but nobody was hurt.

The armed men robbed Kardashian at gunpoint at around 0100 GMT (3 am in Paris), the source told Reuters. The attack happened in a discreet luxury residence used by celebrities and wealthy individuals behind the French capital’s Madeleine church. Kardashian has stayed there at least once before, in 2014, before her marriage to rapper Kanye West. Police were guarding the site on Monday.

Kim’s representative said she is “badly shaken but physically unharmed.” She offered no other details.

Kardashian, one of the most identifiable US celebrities, has been appearing prominently at Paris fashion week where she headed Sunday to the show of Balenciaga.

The 35-year-old starlet made headlines at the show for appearing without makeup, a bare look recently adopted by singer Alicia Keys at the MTV Video Music Awards.

Kardashian, who has two children with West, has been a fixture of US celebrity news for more than a decade after an infamous leaked sex tape and the reality show “Keeping Up with the Kardashians.”

Also in Paris, Kardashian was last week approached by Vitalii Sediuk, a famous accoster of the stars, who was caught on video attempting to kiss her behind in an apparent social commentary.

Swift exit for Kanye

West, the rap superstar who also has his Yeezy line of clothing, learned about the assault as he headlined the new festival The Meadows in New York.

One of the biggest draws in live music, West took the stage half an hour late but in dramatic fashion with a fireworks show overhead as he ripped into songs from his latest album The Life of Pablo.

However an hour into his set, West said mid-song, “I’m sorry, show’s over,” and quickly left.

A festival representative took the microphone to declare a 10-minute intermission before quickly returning to say that West had a “family emergency” and had already left the venue.

The festival later issued a statement praising West for a “great show” and said: “Our thoughts are with West and his family.”

West had flown to Paris to appear with his wife and her sister Kourtney Kardashian on Thursday during a one-day break in his North American tour.

Amid an initial lack of details over his swift exit, many fans at the festival were distraught as they poured out of the venue into the parking lot of the New York Mets’ baseball stadium.

Some had waited since early afternoon to be in the front rows for him, while the merchandise stands had special lines exclusively for West merchandise with waits of one hour.

The new, late-season festival was set up by the promoters of New York’s six-year-old Governors Ball who had snagged West for a June performance well ahead of his tour -- but were forced to cancel his set due to weather.
