Koffee with Karan

Karan Johar had a directors’ special episode on his talk show Koffee with Karan where Kabir Khan, Imtiaz Ali and Zoya Alkhtar graced the couch.

For the first time in these five seasons, three directors Imtiaz Ali, Kabir Khan and Zoya Akhtar came together to grace the couch of Karan Johar’s Koffee With Karan where the trio spilled the beans about the habits of the superstars and more.

Kabir Khan not happy with Ekk Tha Tiger
Talking about catering to a particular set of audience or expectation, Kabir Khan - who recently wrapped his third film with Salman Khan (Tueblight) - said he was not satisfied with Ek Tha Tiger. Kabir said he did not like the final product as he seemed to have lost the grip on his film while trying to accommodate and cater to Salman’s sensibilities. In Bajrangi Bhaijaan, however, they blended the two sensibilities to reach a common goal, he said.

Airlift is the most over-rated film of the year for Kabir
Kabir claimed that he found Akshay Kumar-Nimrat Kaur-starrer Airlift to be the most overrated film of the year.

SRK and Salman is the late comer while Big B is the most punctual on sets
When asked about the actor or actress who comes late on the sets and who is the most punctual, ‘Bombay Talkies’ director smiled and said Amitabh Bachchan is the most punctual, whereas superstar Shah Rukh Khan was tagged in late comers category. Second was Kabir’s turn, to which he also touted Big B as the punctual one, but in the latter category, he named Salman Khan. Imtiaz also named King Khan as late comer on the film sets whereas Ranbir Kapoor was put in the category of punctual actors.

Post-Friday and pre-Friday films

Kabir revealed that when he approached producers for his first feature, Kabul Express, he was told it is “post-Friday film”. None of the directors - KJo, Imtiaz or Zoya knew what that is. Kabir then explained - “ A pre-Friday film is when the movie is sold before the release while post-Friday film earns mostly on account of word-of-mouth.

Zoya’s suggestion for the CBFC
During the rapid fire round, Karan asked Zoya if she would like to give a suggestion to the “censor board” Zoya replied, “That they are not censor board, it is a certification body and they need to act accordingly.”

Currently, the director is also working with Shah Rukh and Anushka for his next movie.
