I am back! In case you were wondering where I am back from — or even if you didn’t notice my absence — I had taken a week off, leaving my laptop and cell phone behind. I feel it’s important to disconnect from the world every now and then and get in touch with myself at times — just to get some clarity on what I should be doing next in terms of my work.
On my return I went straight into meetings and the Filmfare awards. To open the award ceremony with a live performance from Rock On!! was a memorable experience. I had a blast, and I think the audience did, too. It also felt great to win [and share] the best debut [male] award. It has been such an amazing journey with Rock On!! and now to end it with the recognition from your fraternity is like the cherry on top.
Now I am back to work and preparing for my next film, and also back to shooting Oye! It’s Friday! This week I am excited to have the Masakali girl Sonam Kapoor on the show. Unfortunately, I have not yet seen Delhi-6, but I think there is something very fresh about Sonam. She is beautiful with her own distinct style, and a good actor. She is definitely going to do very well for herself.
Though you can’t really see much of her father in her, at least appearance-wise, I know that Anil Kapoor is a very sincere and hardworking actor and she seems to have inherited those qualities from him.
Though I had met Sonam before the show, I never really had much of a chance to sit and chat with her, so it was nice to have had the opportunity on the show. This meant that I also got to learn many things about her that I didn’t know. The ones that surprised me most were: she had wanted to be a director at first, but is now an actor; she weighed 90 kg at one point in her life. There is no way one can imagine that seeing her now!
Now I am back, but rather than feeling refreshed, I am ready to take a holiday to recover from my holiday, but the next movie calls and the show, as they say, must go on.
Catch the action on Oye! It’s Friday at 10 pm on NDTV Imagine
