Mallika out, Urmila in Chak Dhoom Dhoom
Barely three weeks after judging the dance reality show, Mallika Sherawat, amid rumours of star tantrums, has been unceremoniously dropped by the host channel, and replaced by Bollywood star, Urmila Matondkar.tv Updated: Jan 21, 2011 02:13 IST
Just two days ago, actor Mallika Sherawat was on top of the world. In December, she started working on her first TV show, as the judge on the dance reality show, Chak Dhoom Dhoom. Barely three weeks later, amid rumours of star tantrums, Sherawat has been unceremoniously dropped by the host channel, and replaced by Bollywood star, Urmila Matondkar.
A source from the channel, Colors, who refused to be named, confirmed the news, saying, “Yes, we have signed on Urmila. Mallika was throwing a lot of tantrums. She was not giving enough time for media interactions. And, every time there was some prior commitment, she would have something else to do.” The source adds that the actor took too long to complete her make-up and wanted time to rest and have frequent meals between shoots.
“When there was a date clash with the movie, we were okay with it,” says another source, adding that the actor’s unprofessional attitude was posing a problem for the show’s crew. Choreographer Terence Louis, a co-judge on the show, refuses to comment on the tantrums, but says, “TV is a new thing for Mallika, and she is not used to all this stress.
I just hope that Urmila will bring her own charm to the show.” However, Sherawat now claims that she decided not to do the show only because of a “clash of dates”, when just two days ago, she had told HT, “Oh so now I’ve become a tantrum queen, too? Let people say what they want, the fact is that I have a contract and I will complete my run on the show.”
