Recent rumours suggested that Tanya Sharma has quit her popular TV show Saath Nibhana Saathiya. Media reports last week had claimed Tanya did not want her character to grow old with a time leap. The actor has now confirmed that she is not leaving the show and will be back soon as Meera.
In an exclusive chat with Hindustan Times, Tanya trashes rumours and assures fans that there were no disputes with the producers and whatever issue there was, has been resolved.
“First of all, going for a meeting with producers does not mean that there’s a dispute. I had some issue with the mother track and I went ahead to discuss the same. After our discussion, I was informed that my character is going to have a very strong track in near future and I am an important character in the show. So I decided to stay back,” Tanya said.
“People just want to gossip and they blew things out of proportion. Everyone thought that I left the show but there was no proper exit of Meera. So I don’t think my fans need to worry at all. I am totally on the show and it is just a small break. I will be back with a bang soon. Meera is famous for surprises and my creative team has informed me this will be yet another surprise. So for now I would just say that be patient I’ll be back with a bang,” she added.
Saath Nibhana Saathiya is one of the top-rated shows of Star Plus and has been running on air since May 2010. Saath Nibhana Saathiya revolves around a fictitious family - the Modis, who live in a mansion in Rajkot. The show explores morals and family values of a typical Gujarati joint family. The storyline took a leap of eight years in February 2014, a further leap of ten years in March 2015, and a final leap of four years in May 2016.
Initially, the show focuses on the life and arranged marriage of two female cousins (Gopi and Rashi, played by Devoleena Bhattacharjee and Rucha Hasabnis ) and their contrasting personalities. Gopi is affectionate towards all her family members, especially her husband Ahem, but Rashi, who is married to Jigar, constantly plots against Gopi.
Tanya plays Gopi’s daughter Meera in the current track of the show where she struggles to keep her kids safe in the Modi family. Meera is an independent woman who is also cunning and short-tempered. Meera blames Vidya (Ahem’s daughter played by Sonam Lamba) for the her own miscarriage.
